Ingredients
- Banana Flower- 1 No
- Coconut Grated - 1/4 Cup
- GreenChilly- 2 No
- Onion Shallots- 4 No
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
- Oil as required
- Curry leaves.
How to cut the banana flower for cooking
- Initially apply oil on your hands before starting to clean the banana flower.
- Remove the outer layers/banana bract of the flower as shown in the picture..
- Keep on removing until you get a plain white flower.
- At the edge of the florets, make criss-cross cuttings. ( kothi ariyuka)
- Chop the florets well.
- Soak the florets in water for 15 minutes.
- Drain out the water well.
- Keep it aside for cooking.

MAKE CRISS CROSS CUTTINGS AND CHOP |
- Grind the onion shallots, coconut and greenchilly in a mixie.
- Mix the grinded coconut, tumeric powder with banana flower and keep it aside for cooking.
- Add oil to the pan , when it is hot add the mustard seeds. let it splutter
- When it splutter add the banana flower, close the pan and cook for 10 minutes.
- Make sure it is not over cooked.
- It get cooked well within 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add curry leaves .
Note: You can also add jeera while grinding the coconut .
